They were showing this at Japan Fest, along with Anime. It reminded me just how much I like the movie.
The creativity in this is simply off the chart. If you have kids between the ages of 7 and 13 or so, this is a great family film to watch with them. It's perhaps a bit scary for younger kids.
I agree. I have watched that over and over.
ReplyDeleteWe were already anime fans when it came out. We made the point of seeing it in the theater. Super movie!
ReplyDeleteYou could have just written "This is a great film."
ReplyDeleteMiyazaki films in general are written and animated in such an off-beat (to "mainstream" anime), creative way that I've yet to see one I haven't thoroughly enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteHowl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Nausicaa, and Ponyo are repeat favorites around our house. I'm also a fan of Princess Mononoke, but I think it's a bit too dark/graphic for younger kids (under 10 or 12).
