I don't see 6 number (heh) as any worse than people who don't know cars run on gas and that the gas runs out and has to be refilled. (One of my coworkers actually had that happen to her when she was a teen.)
Meta: in addition to the stupid labeling (10 number? who messes that up?) there's inconsistent text: half the time they use the Britishism "rang" instead of the Amerian "called" or "phoned."
