Because I'm all about safety. So after about $800, I'm about where the other bike I had wanted was, only this only has 6,000 miles instead of 30,000.

If you can pop a wheelie on that, I want to see video. Between the low CG and forward foot controls, getting off of horizontal isn't going to be easy.
Why are most of your bike pics outside the pub? We should meet up for beers...

...and as others have said, skinned knuckles are a sign you're "doin' it right".
If the bags are touching the pipes that might cause problems.
