Just for my annual checkup.
Doc: "You need to eat less, drink less, and exercise more. "
Me: "I want a second opinion."
Doc: "OK, you're ugly, too."
I'm here all week. Try the veal.

UPDATE: Damn, I like this doctor. That's a new experience for me.
Badaboom!
ReplyDeleteI hear that from my doctor a lot too. Except for the ugly part. She's too nice to say something like that.
ReplyDeleteI truly hear that from my doctor every year. And he's right. Except food and beer are the only things in my life that are bringing me happiness right now, and I'll be damned if I'm going to give them up so I can live longer in complete misery. With all due respect, FO Doc.
ReplyDeleteMBWITW has been hounding me to get my annual 'check up and oil change'..
ReplyDeleteI have been negligent in doing so as I do NOT want to hear the same thing..
Sigh...
Suppose I better though..
maddmedic, yeah. But for Gentlemen of a certain age, it's the smart thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for my (Kaiser...) Doctor to tell me to grow more hair on my head.
ReplyDeletemaddmedic: Being tsk tsked by the doctor is better than waking up in the hospital and being told, "You should be dead right about now." Dad had collapsed in the yard while mowing the grass. He took the doc's advice, quit smoking, took his medicine, and lived another 10 years.
ReplyDeleteThen collapsed in that [redacted] yard again while mowing the grass.
My doctor said I need to swear off the cigars, booze and coffee.
ReplyDeleteI tell him I need my addictions, and I keep it to the big 5, drinking, smoking, womanizing, gambling, and coffee. If I drop one I need to pick up a new oneto keep things balanced. Perhaps opiates, crack, or would he recommend meth?
Most of the time they say "Hmm, can you reduce any of those?". There was one time the response I got was "Have you ever thought about cross dressing?". I really liked that Dr :-D
Otherwise Doctors dont seem to be as quick as all that when you throw something at them they dont expect.
Abnormalist, what I particularly like about this doc is that we have discussions of risks and tradeoffs. It's not a lecture, it's useful guidance.
ReplyDeleteAnd he doesn't sugar coat it. Not trying to scare me, just laying it out the way it is. I find that quite refreshing.
now that was pretty funny.
ReplyDeletecome up with 44 minutes more of those and you might have backup career.
