And so now listen to the "Global Warming is wrecking the Planet" and "6 of the hottest years in the last century were in the last decade" bloviating that people hear from the Press. You know why none of this sticks? Because people also hear this from the Press:
Biggest Snowstorm of the year threatens Northeast:
Another round of wintry weather will slug the eastern half of the United States starting Friday, threatening to leave as much as a foot of snow by Sunday. And this is the second snow storm on the east coast so far this year. We're not even half way through December. No wonder nobody pays attention anymore - what they hear doesn't jive with what they see, and so they tune it out.
“We will see a lot of winter storm warnings being issued with this,” Michael Palmer, a lead meteorologist with The Weather Channel told NBC News. The station has already issued a severe winter weather alert from Missouri through to Maine on Thursday night.
“Boston will probably be the worst hit in terms of cities, in the 4-to-8-inch range,” he added. “In Philadelphia and New York City, we will see probably 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulation. It will be the biggest storm in terms of accumulating snow that we have seen in the Northeast this winter.”
Yeah, yeah - weather vs. climate, yadda yadda. I'd be more impressed with this argument if people who believe in Global Warming didn't seize on every warm summer week as proof of ZOMGTHERMAGEDDON!!!!1!!eleventy!!!
But weather is not climate, Borepatch!
ReplyDeleteUntil the weather gets hot, then it is totally, like, a foreboding sign that teh globals is warmening!!!one1eleventy!!
Half TIC, I don't get the "weather is not climate" wheeze. If climate is not the sum of the weather over time, then WTF **is** it? Hmm?
ReplyDeleteM
Doesn't Global Warming cause colder winters? http://phys.org/news/2013-03-global-harsher-winters.html
ReplyDeleteThe Science Is Settled&trade, doncha know?
...... What!??? You mean my beach side house in Maine will never be the Tropical retirement paradice Al Gore promised??? !!!!!
ReplyDeleteI Sueing. I want my Global Warmnining. !!!!!! I'm freezing up here!!!!!
Freezing Up There??? Hell, I live in Texas, I'm freezing down HERE!
ReplyDeleteGlobal warming? Bring it on. My son just totaled his car on a patch of Global Warming this morning.
ReplyDeleteDave - hopefully everyone is okay?
ReplyDeleteGoober: Thanks. No injuries except a shoulder belt bruise. Airbag did not deploy. (It was a side impact on the rear door.)
ReplyDeleteA kindly gentleman on his way to the doctor stopped and let my son sit in his truck to stay warm until I got there almost an hour later. In spite of what you hear on the news, there are good people in New York.
Car's a total writeoff. The rear axle mounts were torn free of the chassis. So it looks like my son will get a different car for Christmas.
Mark;
ReplyDeleteI was joking... you caught that, right?
As for the "weather is not climate" thing, I can explain why they use that in one quick sentence:
It gives them an opportunity to dismiss any weather event that doesn't follow the narrative.
It's that simple.
Dave, First off glad your son is alright. My Significant other had her car wrecked three months back, but the good thing is she was not hurt. Cars are replaceable.
ReplyDeleteBorepatch, the narrative was broken to begin with but yeah people are not following it anymore when the tune changes with each season.
The question I ask people that insist its man made changes causing the extreme weather is always this: What is normal weather? When has the planet had anything you could define as normal? Even if the weather we are having during humanity's existence is abnormal for the planet some several thousand years that is a blink of an eye to the geological scale of this planet. They know it was much warmer for millions of years. So by that definition we are actually abnormally cold even when we are in the hot dog days of summer.
"What is normal weather? When has the planet had anything you could define as normal?"
ReplyDeleteExactly. Well said
