Holy cow

I've never been the biggest Jean Claude Van Dam fan, but if this is as described, then my respect for his real world (not Hollywood) capabilities went way, way up.

And my respect for Volvo.  But this is so so off the hook that I do wonder if it was shot and then video played in reverse.  Click through for the story.  Wow.

  1. I was reading a little about it and people with sharper eyes than I have claim they can see things that make it clear it was filmed as it appears. Even if it wasn't, he'd still be a stud pulling that stunt with the trucks driving forward.

  2. They had to use 2 trucks with trailers because each one houses a separate testicle.

I do notice it is "live test 6" and yet they claim it took 1 take however.

  3. It's certain that some of the tests would have been the trucks practicing without him. You'd think they'd want it down pat with multiple successful runs (with *very* careful measurement of separation at different stages of the drive) before he climbed aboard.

Well, at least, that's how I'd do things if I were directing.

  4. Wider shots I've seen show the trucks appear to be backing up.....therefore, it was shot starting with the splits and ending with him standing. Either way, it's impressive.

  5. Impressive and I'm betting he had to do a LOT of stretching prior to that...

  6. The trucks are driving in reverse ON PURPOSE. The point of the commercial is to demonstrate how precise Volvo's new Super Steering System is, and if the trailer had started getting the slightest bit out of hand, it would have led to having to correct in a manner that would have caused JCVD a world of hurt.

Mr. Van Damme, you have big balls. Drivers, you have madd skillz.

  7. Turns out moth BP and I were wrong regarding the title. There are a number of videos testing the stability system example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BRoU1hw-CU is "test 3"
