Why I don't shave

It's sort of a Sampson thing.

  1. Yeah, there's that. Had a beard for 20+ years, then shaved it off in '94 when it started turning grey. Haven't had one since, as it ages me 20 years.

    Dang it.

  2. I started growing my beard in September of 1976 when I had all four of my wisdom teeth extracted.

I was so swollen for the first week I couldn't shave, and after that it had started to fill in pretty nice, so I kept it.

Besides, now that I really am a 'greybeard', it fits!

  3. Same reason I don't shave. I lose 10-15 years of experience - and I'm still at *mumble-mumble* age where I need every advantage to get people to take me seriously.

  4. People who look like me should be required by law to have beards. Mine is a bit scrubby, but it's held together for 15 years. Started it the day I retired.

  5. 100% agree. I have respirator training at work in about 3 weeks, and it requires I be clean shaven, which means I'll go from looking 10 years older than I am to 5 years younger.
