But that mandate was for individuals, who make up less than 10% of the public. People who get insurance via their employer make up the other 90%. And when that mandate hits, it will be chaos. The Administration knew back in 2010 that perhaps a hundred Million people would lose their coverage.
How do we know? They published it in the Federal Register:
If you read the Affordable Care Act when it was passed, you knew that it was dishonest for President Obama to claim that “if you like your plan, you can keep your plan,” as he did—and continues to do—on countless occasions. And we now know that the administration knew this all along. It turns out that in an obscure report buried in a June 2010 edition of the Federal Register, administration officials predicted massive disruption of the private insurance market.I think that this will break the Democratic Party. I wonder what Obama is planning to prevent that.
...
“The Departments’ mid-range estimate is that 66 percent of small employer plans and 45 percent of large employer plans will relinquish their grandfather status by the end of 2013,” wrote the administration on page 34,552 of the Register. All in all, more than half of employer-sponsored plans will lose their “grandfather status” and get canceled. According to the Congressional Budget Office, 156 million Americans—more than half the population—was covered by employer-sponsored insurance in 2013.
...
How many people are exposed to these problems? 60 percent of Americans have private-sector health insurance—precisely the number that Jay Carney dismissed. As to the number of people facing cancellations, 51 percent of the employer-based market plus 53.5 percent of the non-group market (the middle of the administration’s range) amounts to 93 million Americans.
Meh, what does he care? It'll be Hillary's problem :)
ReplyDeleteMore and more, I am coming around to the possibility that Obama's only goal is the "fundamental change" he espoused on the campaign trail. In other words, tear *everything* down: the American economy, (what remains of the) Constitutional structure, both major parties, EVERYTHING. It's a Halloween thought, eh?
ReplyDeleteOK, so the real deal hits 1/1/2015, and then the fun begins. I don't doubt you're correct, it won't be smart to stand too close to anything Democratic.
ReplyDeleteBut....that's almost 2 months after the 2014 elections, and it's a safe bet the liberal media won't even be able to spell "Obamacare" in the months before November 4, much less let the proles know what's coming.
And, the Dems will have 22 months before November 2016 to paper everything over.
I see the decline getting steeper and steeper, and I don't think there's anything soft at the bottom.
What's Obama planning?
ReplyDeleteSame thing he always does: blame Bush (or Congressional Republicans, or "Tea Party Insurrectionists", etc.). Claim he didn't know and/or wasn't informed. Sign an Executive Order outlawing the GOP and designating the Democratic Party as the Official Party of the Land.
Ultimately, hide in his bubble and tee up for another round of golf.
I mean, it's not like anyone's going to call him on that crap anyway.
Ahhhhhhhh.
ReplyDeleteThis is the hill, boys, that the Donks will die on.
Forrest Gump will be able to run in 2016 and kick Hillary to the curb merely by promising to chitcan Obamacare.
That should keep them out of the Whitehouse for a good 20 years if we're lucky.
Never underestimate the retarded stupidity of 50% of the population in voting for the Democrats. Nothing but nothing is ever Obama's fault. Also they rig the Diebold voting machines so no matter what they will always have enough votes, with 110% turn out in some districts of all possible voters and they ALL voted for the messiah.
ReplyDeleteMy first, morbid, thought was we'll probably see another "random mass-shooting" or other sort of domestic incident involving a number of innocent people killed, which will be plastered all over the (bought and paid for) media for as long as it takes for the (unwashed) masses to forget about ACA. Never let a good disaster go to waste, ya know.
ReplyDeleteIt's ALL about going to single payer IMHO...
ReplyDeleteIt's a dodge to single payer health care. You can see the news outlets already prepping the field to blame the Republicans during the shutdown. "Why are those Tea Party fanatics against this when we're just using the system that their party suggested." That makes it so it's not Obama's fault, it's a failure in the system and he comes across as a benevolent, bi-partisan, middle of the aisle sort who would be able to make things happen if only we gave the Dems more power.
ReplyDeleteOf course he did. He does not want to mess up the 2014 election and he dose not care what happens after that. We need to impeach him NOW! This would have cost him dearly in 2014 and he knows it.
