The Motorcycle Diaries*, No. 3

I went up to the Santa Fe Veteran's Cemetery today. I hadn't been to see Dad's grave in a year; Mom hadn't been in six months. Among the generic vehicles parked by mourners was a motorcycle. The rider, like I, had come for this:




This made me think that I need to ride a bike out here, sometime in the future. A pilgrimage, if you will, like the one made by today's rider.

I also need to start participating in some of the Patriot Guard Rider events.

    Ride safely. And yes...a pilgrimage is exactly what it is. I have made several. It is.....important.

    Someone I know keeps telling me to wear a helmet. Probably a good idea.

    Join your local PGR. You may not be able to make all the rides, and you don't have to wear the patch, but just showing up is its own reward.

    And when the loved ones look at you, you'll see their thanks behind the tears.

    Ask me how I know...
