Quote of the Day: Anarcho-Tyranny edition

Al Fin is back* and brings The Smart, as is his wont:
Most governments of western countries are creating conditions of increasing danger for ordinary citizens. This is happening because of bad policies, which encourage lawlessness on the part of less productive and more violence-prone groups, and limit the ability of productive and lawful citizens to defend themselves from unwarranted attacks.

Whatever cannot go on indefinitely, will not.
Wouldn't it be interesting to see a Home Owner's Association covenant that required, say, one evening a month on armed neighborhood watch patrol?  And gated communities with triple fences with concertina wire on the middle one (unseeable from either the road or the inside community, but an obstacle to anyone who scales the outside wall)?

Of course, that would be raaciiisssstttt!

Whatever cannot go on indefinitely, will not.  And never has the People's faith in their government been at a lower ebb.

I'd be scared to live in a neighborhood with an armed watch unless they had training. What I'd rather see is a HOA that required all members to take firearms practice once a month.

  2. Any HOA that did that would be sued off the planet with the first shooting, just like Zimmerman's was. Remember that the members of the HOA are financially responsible for everything done my the HOA, meaning that you will be financially responsible and possibly lose your home when one of your neighbors on armed patrol shoots someone.

  3. Yeah, but we can still dream of a more rational world, can't we?

  4. If it gets to the point where you are putting concertina wire around your gated community, the HOA getting sued is the least of your worries.
On another note, the Al Fin blog back up and running is a breath of fresh air!
