Roberta shoots,
and scores:
Yknow what the little plastic gun is good for? Saying, "Leave me
alone," or "No, you can't rob me," or, if you're really, really brave,
shooting a jack-booted thug from behind and taking his big fancy gun for
your very own. Y'know how to avoid that last one? Get outta the
jackbooted thuggery business.
Sadly, it seems that there's no shortages of applicants to the Jackbooted Thuggery Ministry. And Lawdog brings the snark (for a double barrel QotD) drolly remarking on the impact of the State Department's
draconian invocation of the ITAR:
I'm pretty sure that
today a whole bunch of folks are irritated by having to pick gun
designs out of their pirated music and porn downloads, but macht nichts.
I guess that officially makes the Liberator pistol design into gun pr0n ...
Let me say, amen, as usual.
ReplyDeleteJust as a point of information, though, do you suppose there is any search engine, robot, or net-nanny anywhere that does not instantly recognize the word "pr0n" as a synonym for the word it is supposed to represent? Not quite as irritating as the word "teh", but getting there. Cheers.
The 1969 Army Improvised Munitions Manual is online. You can even get a paper copy from Barnes & Noble or Amazon. A google search will turn it up or you can chase it down from the wiki article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TM_31-210_Improvised_Munition_Handbook. On page 100 of the PDF start the instructions to build a single shot 9mm pistol out of easily obtained metal and wood.
ReplyDeleteOh, and right after that pistol? Plans to make a 12 ga. shotgun.
A plastic gun that takes a $8k printer to make is a gimmick.
+1 on ASM! I wasn't going there, but yes ALL those pubs are readily available and MUCH more practical...
ReplyDeleteASM, lotsa modern people probably couldn't figure out how to carve their own gun--think Big Bang Theory type of people--but could certainly set up a 3d printer to do it.
ReplyDeleteWhether the set of people described above exists is another question.
Roberta doesn't mess around. :)
ReplyDelete;D
ReplyDeleteYou can make a rudimentary muzzle loader out of an iron pipe. Guys like me with just enough
ReplyDeleteKnowledge of cnc machining to get into troble can make a perfectly functional single shot anything in a couple hours. As I've stated on my blog ad nauseaum, the gun control ship has sailed. It's too late.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I can weld, too. Ladies!
