Leaders of Nelson - a city of just over 1,300 about 50 miles north of downtown Atlanta - say with one police officer on patrol eight hours a day, city residents are left virtually unprotected for 16 hours per day.

Nelson City Councilman Duane Cronic told WSB-TV ( http://bit.ly/ZmZhXp) relying on sheriffs from Cherokee and Pickens counties could mean a longer wait time in an emergency.

And so the Nelson Town Council is basically authorizing the militia for the 16 hours a day that the town constable is off duty.

Whatever you do, don't tell Massachusetts' idiotic Attorney General Martha Coakley who "doesn't recommend self-help". Because citizens never do the Right Thing unless there's some magic Government Dust that gets sprinkled on them.  Then they always do the Right Thing.  Or something.

  2. Fascism is fascism whether you agree with it or not. A person living in this town who is now facing criminal penalty because he doesn't want a gun or cant afford one is likely not a huge fan of this idea. I think it's stupid, myself.

  3. Put another way: a government with the power to mandate what people have to own is a government with the power to do the opposite. Only the individual can determine what is best for his needs and government needs to but the hell out.

  4. They should make them buy health insurance while they're at it.

Governments cannot force ownership like this. And this is exactly the sort of bullcrap the Left will use against gun owners. And we keep handing it to them with lame stunts like this.
