The sound of silence
I feel a little bad about closing down anonymous comments, but it's quite a change seeing this every day. In the week or so since I shut that door, I think I've had one real comment that got mistakenly tagged as spam and no spam comments at all.
My results have been the same. In the last year, only two comments containing spam got posted, and both were from registered Blogger accounts that included links to other sites.

A OpenID account is an easy hurdle if it keeps the free ice cream maker happy!
