Quote of the Day - Moronic Gun Control Proposal edition

Someone at the NRA must have had fun when they wrote this:
Feinstein's 1994 ban listed "grenade launcher" as one of the prohibiting features for rifles. Her 2013 bill carries goes even further into the ridiculous, by also listing "rocket launcher." Such devices are restricted under the National Firearms Act and, obviously, are not standard components of the firearms Feinstein wants to ban. Perhaps a subsequent Feinstein bill will add "nuclear bomb," "particle beam weapon," or something else equally far-fetched to the features list.
We have to close the "Particle Beam Weapon Loophole"!

  2. Hey, a particle beam weapon is just a full-auto weapon in a subatomic caliber and a HUGE rate of fire.

I'd gladly pay for the tax stamp for one though.

  3. They'll probably have a line item in there banning phased plasma rifles in the 40-watt range. And lightsabers.

  4. Gwen beat me to to the phased plasma rifle. How do we get an exception written for the M41A pulse rifle? :-)

  5. Shhh, not so loud! Next, they'll include photon torpedoes, too.

  6. We need to come up with a list of features that are totally meaningless but then talk them up like they're weapons of mass distruction. Then when some legislator feels the burning need to ban something, we can negotiate some of them away.

I mean, what does a civilian need with a dielectric conducer anyway? It's clearly only something the military should have.

  7. Dave is absolutely right. And don't even get me started on the Thelman-wire interocitor rails. I think these are common-sense provisions on which we can come to bipartisan agreement.

  8. We can make al the fun we want to of Feinstein, heck she deserves our derision, not however on this issue. There is a solid interpretation of the 2nd Am (including the Miller decision) that states that the only firearms protected by the 2nd Am are those of "military value" rocket launchers are of military value, as are grenade launchers, the Phalanx CIWS and Iowa class battleships 16 inch guns. So she is simply trying to cover her bases on that interpretation.

I wish I got comments like that first one.

  11. I get Better Homes and Garden magazine, the January issue was HALF the size of last years issues, almost a pamphlet.

Partner looked at me holding the old and the new one up and said "damn restrictions on high capacity magazines. . ."

  12. IIRC, most or all of the shops working on particle/directed energy weapons are in, or contracted to the .gov. We may need to sue for parity access.

  13. The 94 ban, and the choice of features was moronic, to be sure; but any of y'all ever own a Yugo 59/66? That thar is a grenade launcher on the end. Or tennis ball, or tater, or... Just want to make sure we got our facts straight on what we make fun of. Still looking for the shoulder thing that goes up.
