Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps (Cuban songwriter Osvaldo Farrés, translated from the Spanish by Joe Davis)
You won't admit you love meAnd to answer my overly-curious readers, yes I can do a quite credible rumba. Especially to this.
And so how am I ever to know?
You always tell me
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps
A million times I've asked you,
And then I ask you over again
You only answer
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps
If you can't make your mind up
We'll never get started
And I don't wanna wind up
Being parted, broken-hearted
So if you really love me
Say yes, but if you don't dear, confess
And please don't tell me
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps
If you can't make your mind up
We'll never get started
And I don't wanna wind up
Being parted, broken-hearted
So if you really love me
Say yes, but if you don't dear, confess
And please don't tell me
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps
That was such a good song!

Do you rumba? Take a rumba from one to ten.
ReplyDeleteDo you Rumba?
No, but I'll walk around while you rumba. Hold this. ~Groucho Marx
Have you heard the Cake cover of this? Quite good really

I tried learning to dance once. Made it about one song before my instructor (a friend of my ex wife's, before we split), a lady who was supposedly very long on patience, gave up on me. Apparently I suffer from WhiteMan Disease (tm): its the number one killer of rhythm in America.
ReplyDeleteRabidAlien, it is a skill and it can be learned (at least to a basic level). Think of it as learning to use a lathe or milling machine.
ReplyDeleteabnormalist, it's an interesting (and very non Doris Day) take on the song.
