This is a pretty interesting test of each voice search capability - Apple's Siri and Android's new voice command in Jelly Bean.
What's particularly interesting is that the questions are more complex, and more like what might get asked in real life. Rather than "How's traffic?", you have things like "Show me pictures of men's cut-off jeans."
We can expect that this will drive improvements in Siri - nothing like a little competition to get improvements racing to market.

Interesting to say the least... LOL
ReplyDeleteFrom now on, when I don't know what to say, I'm defaulting to "I'm sorry. Would you like me to Google search a photo of a stallion?"
ReplyDeleteAll,
ReplyDeleteI hope Weerd reads this as I know he's got an Android phone.
I just updated my Android phone to the "ice cream sandwich" (aka ICS) version of the o/s . . . BIGGEST. MISTAKE. EVER. Turned my functional phone into a klitchy, ugly, unusable piece of trash. If you run your Droid in 3G (CDMA) mode to save battery as I used to do, DO NOT UPGRADE. ICS takes away the ability to keep the phone in 3G mode. I'm now charging the beast at least twice, sometimes three times daily because 4G (LTE) draws so much more battery power than CDMA. The virtual keyboard got WORSE. I now have to punch two or three buttons to answer a call . . used to be I only had to press one.
The other day when driving past a Verizon store, there was some nutbag in a green droid costume on the side of the road. I almost wanted to run him down.
To the Android 4.0 software developers, business analysts, etc., who created ICS, I have one thing to say. Bugger off you bloody sods !!!!!

@ Brad: I did a quick google search for "android ics turn off 4g", and there are two possible solutions:
ReplyDelete1) There are several apps that will let you toggle 4g.
2) (From the Android Central forums) Go to your phone dialer and type "*#*#4636#*#*" Go to Phone Information and scroll down to "Set Preferred Network Type" and select CDMA auto (PRL). This will keep your phone in 3G without use of any third party app.
The second option may be phone specific, so you should check the forums for your specific model and carrier. Some of the apps may also be model or carrier specific due to differences in hardware.
" I now have to punch two or three buttons to answer a call"
I'm not sure I understand what you mean here. I just have to slide the circle to the "answer" icon and it answers, even when the phone is locked.*

I wondered what Chelsea Clinton was doing now.
