I had hoped to go to the Black Hat/DEFCON security conferences in Las Vegas this week. For those of you not in the Security Biz, this is the premiere Internet Security conference anywhere. Black Hat is more corporate and buttoned down, while DEFCON is where everyone lets their hair down - the hacking "capture the flag" competition there is legendary. I know a guy who won, back in the '90s.
But alas, work schedule didn't fit, and so I'm not going. But Stainles of Whipped Cream Difficulties is. I hope he gives us some posts about what the view is on the conference floor there. Probably best not to post from the conference floor, though - never know who might be sniffing around, in an IP Packet sense.
That is one conference I wouldn't take my computer too, let alone turn it on.
ReplyDeleteI am going to DEFCON, but not Black Hat: DEFCON I can actually afford, but Black Hat pretty much requires a corporate sponsor to go.
ReplyDeleteI do plan to do daily posts summarizing the panels I attend, with links to the presentations if possible.
And I'll miss you, Borepatch. I didn't even realize you were thinking about going, and I would have liked to take you to dinner at Lotus of Siam. Maybe next year?

ReplyDeleteRobert, yeah I saw that. Evil. I expect that if you looked for that sort of thing you could find it, but it's probably not easy.
ReplyDeleteHaving the correct outlet spacing to accommodate transformer blocks is a very nice touch.
