Actually, I'd pay cash money to see this movie

Avengers with #2 Son was pretty good, even if the invisible flying aircraft carrier was dumb.  Skycaptain and the World of Tomorrow at least had retro sci-fi chic, like P-40s that turned into submarines.  But the rest of the film was pretty awesome.

  1. Yeah but i remember the SHIELD Helicarrier from the comics I read growing up. It was pretty neat to see it on film.

  2. My desire to see Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter ended abruptly upon viewing the trailer, which makes the movie seem a tedious Matrix rehash. We really need to stop this slow-mo fighting nonsense.

Think I'll keep an eye out for the book at Half Price.

  3. Sabra - agreed. The stop-action fighting was cool in the first Matrix, but now that everyone is doing it, it is getting tired. The only other movie where they pulled it off in my opinion was in "300" with the scene where Leonidas goes through a bunch of Persians like a honey badger on PCP.

We need to return to fight scenes in moves where the fighters don't suddenly have super-human abilities durign the fight unless the super-human thing is part of the premise of the movie.

the movie "standing tall" for all of it's other flaws is a perfect example of a movie with great fight scenes and, while stretching credulity a bit, still fall within the category of "things that are actually possible for one humna to do, hoever unlikely".

As for Abraham Lincoln, his super-human abilities would be in serious question since he likely suffered from Marphans disease, which would have likely made him pretty fragile, all other things considered.
