Restaurant Review - Cafe Ole on Riverwalk in San Antonio
The good: we were seated right away.
The bad: After 10 minutes, I asked the hostess to find our waiter. After 20 more minutes we left, margarita-less. Don't know if the food is any good, although it seems they don't have any.
Go to Casa Rio.
Republic of Texas, is the locale for the 'Rita of choice on the River Walk as recommended by the Southern Belle. Also, should you go to Mexico, which I highly discourage these days, when the first libation is delivered after a 45 minute wait, you order the next immediately upon arrival of the first. Oh, and drink slowly.
Casa Rio is better only by a matter of degrees. Next time, hunt down Mexican Manhattan (it's on Soledad, near the cathedral, and only sort of on the Riverwalk). Service is usually pretty good, and they have the best chicken tacos in existence.
Unfortunately, I do not think they are open on Sundays.
Mi Tierra, while not on the Riverwalk, is a standby among locals and tourists both for a reason.
They only have a 14% Recommend rate at TripAdvisor. Maybe you should go and add to their misery with a bad review.
ReplyDeleteRita's on the River is a really good choice as well.

I was just down in San Antonio, and if there is a good place on the Riverwalk, it must be a well kept secret.
ReplyDeleteIf I knew you were heading to San Antonio, I'd have come in to meet you.

KurtP, I should have put up the Bat Signal. Might have met up with Sabra and Pistolero, too. Brain not braining right, obviously.
ReplyDeleteI would recommend Mi Tierra's in the Mercado.
