Three yards of mulch

It doesn't look as big as I thought it would.  Probably not enough for the rose garden.

Dang.

  1. Sounds like a lot until you start spreading it around.

  3. A yard is a cube, 3x3x3. In mulch, it should weigh about 1,500 to 2,000 pounds per yard-ish. So, three yards should be close to 4,500 to 6,000 pounds.

What did you haul it in?

If it was a 1/2ton pickup or a single-axle trailer, it should have been on the bump-stops or damned close.

I guess what I'm saying is that 3 yards is a lot of dirt, so if you weren't on the bump stops, you got shorted.

    If you're laying it down in a true 3" layer (which is a lot), 3 yards should cover 246 square feet. THat's a 10 x 24 rose garden. Or a 5x50.

If any of this isn't panning out in your head, then you got shorted.
