Blessed is the man who has concern for his beast. The vet is showing some concern about my boy as well. Sometimes it seems trouble comes in threes for me. Be warmed knowing he's happy knowing he's loved. Shy III
I'm sorry to hear blogbrother. It's amazing how this disease is now hitting our pets. My neighbor lost an awesome Golden to it, and the route I walj in the morning takes me by three cases of cancer in dogs. I greet the dogs and owners and have gotten to know some of them. They have bone cancer, lung cancer, and one has recurring tumors.
What is it? The food? Water? Air? something isn't right....
There are angels on this earth, and sometimes they wear fur suits. The best we poor mortals can do is to honor them in the time they spend with us. Without a doubt the toughest thing I've ever done has been to have an elderly, dying golden retriever put down. It was the right thing to do at the time, but damn.....ten years on I still miss my Molly dog.
I'm so sorry to hear that. Thoughts and prayers to your furry companion and your family. Best to just love 'em all you can. Please give Little One-Eyed Dog an ear-scritchin' and kiss on the head from us.
Barkley went through that earlier, they caught it in time. Surgery and some follow up and he's OK, but scary times. Call if you need to, any time, either of you two.
The Raptor Clan lost our beloved dog to cancer last July. By the time they found the tumor in his heart, it was already the end: the disease had consumed half his heart and was making his heart bleed into his lungs. We had to put him down the same day as the diagnosis; he wouldn't have lasted through the night.
Cherish every moment you have with Little One Eyed Dog. You and yours will be in our prayers.
My sympathies about your dog it's a bummer. To everyone else your pets are living to ages not normally seen in the wild I think 5 years is old for a wolf, your pets are living to double sometimes treble that and unfortunately like people they have to die of something and so cancer and other diseases strike. By being good owners and taking good care of them it means that they will suffer from human like illnesses. It sucks, also a lot of meat you may be feeding them is packed full of nitrates as a preservative and if it's not good for people it's not good for Fido.
I have lost too many to this damn disease over the years,i lost my cocker spaniel at 8yrs old to skin cancer and in 2010 my younger brother to late found prostate cancer and at least 3 friends in so many years to cancer so i feel for you Borepatch i realy do.
Sorry to hear that... we lost our last two dogs over the past few years to cancer... at 11 and 13 years... still miss them...

ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that. I hope that it's treatable.
ReplyDeleteWe lost the St. Bernard that was my best friend as a child when she was seven years old to bone cancer.
I've beat the big C (As John Wayne used to say) twice so far, so maybe he will also.
ReplyDeletePrayers sent, losing any pet is hard, and cancer is even worse...
ReplyDeleteThat sucks. Prayers going up, sir.

Really sorry to hear this, BP.
ReplyDeleteCrap indeed. Had one dog go to cancer, and another to diabetes; just not a fun time.
ReplyDeleteNot good news. Never had a dog with cancer, but we have had sick pups with long term illness...no fun! Sorry.
ReplyDeleteNothing I can say that others haven't said better, but ... dang. Sorry to hear.
ReplyDeletePrayers for all concerned.
AW.
ReplyDeleteWhat North said.

ReplyDeleteI'm here.
Thank you, everyone. It doesn't really look optimistic. The plan is to let her be a lap dog (her highest joy) for as much time as we have.
ReplyDeleteWe really appreciate your words of support.
Sorry, Bubba. Why must the innocent always suffer.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. Prayers to you and little one eyed dog
ReplyDeleteAt least she is very well-loved, and surely she knows it.
ReplyDeleteThat's the best any of us can ask for.
I'm sorry, my friend. Enjoy her short time.
Damn, I was just discussing this topic about pets today with a co-worker. That sucks. I hope things go as best they can.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, Borepatch.

I forgot make sure the food you buy for the dog was made in the USA not just packaged out West in California as it comes from China.
ReplyDeleteSuxage...
ReplyDeleteCancer suxage.
A man who has never been adopted by and loved a pet, is one I do not trust or want to know...
Peace...
Damn....
ReplyDeleteThat's two "damn" comments in one week. I've lost a couple of dogs to cancer over the years.
Blast. And I just heard something about cancer being on the rise in our pets. This stinks.
ReplyDeleteNot much to say; best wishes for your canine family member.
ReplyDeleteOh no! So sorry to hear this.
ReplyDeleteSomeone much wiser than I once said, "If you want a friend, get a dog."
ReplyDeleteLosing a friend is hard. Losing a four-legged friend is harder
My prayers for peace to you, your family, and to your friend.
I'm so sorry Borepatch :-( Rajah sends cuddles . . .

The latter was the hardest experience in my life, up till then.
My best wishes for your pup and your family.
