Stupid Blogspot up and changed the color scheme to something eyeball bleach-worthy, and so I picked a new (and not as attractive, at least to me) color scheme that at least is readable.
When things settle down in a couple of months, I plan on moving off Blogspot to my own domain, because of exactly this sort of wtf just happened thing. Plus the fact that Blogger is starting to censor access from different countries, spying on everyone, and generally acting like a bunch of evil hypocrites.
Damn. I was hoping for a report on your new reloading setup or something.
ReplyDeleteI also plan on getting off blogspot soon, for these very same reasons. Just trying to decide whether to pay a little extra for a static ip address and host it on my server or let someone else deal with all that.
ReplyDeleteWow. I liked how things looked before.
ReplyDeleteHave you looked at what they did to the CAPTCHA? I tried three times last night to leave a comment on one of your posts and finally gave up.
ReplyDeleteASM826, it looks like this is a change that's happened to all the Blogspot blogs. I've noticed a definite uptick in spam, and maybe this is a reaction.
ReplyDeleteIt's enormously annoying.
A couple of notes:
ReplyDelete~ I haven't had any issues with my blog's color scheme in a couple of years now; might have something to do with me taking the $10 option to purchase my domain name. It's still hosted by Blogger of course, but "blogspot" doesn't appear in the name.
~ I'm coming up on my 4th blogiversary (no big deal) and am seriously considering shutting it down. The new&shiny appeal wore off, long ago.
Try shifting over to Wordpress. I did that a while back, for most of the same reasons you mention. Haven't looked back.
ReplyDeleteWhen you travel that pathway from hell to higher-water and get out of the gurgling-sucking swamp of Google, show us the how-to notes and we'll follow.
ReplyDeleteLivejournal has always treated me well. No, seriously! I don't ask much, and that's what I got. But it was enough.
ReplyDeleteI had a Wordpress blog for a little while too but the user interface made me guess how to do things (usually incorrectly) too often. That's what happens when you let programmers design your UI - they write it as if they're the ones who are going to use it.
Blogspot is owned by Google, how can it be evil?
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, that "Don't be evil" crap is for the rubes.
I moved to Wordpress this week. I exported the full XML of the blogspot blog and saved it. Then I created the WordPress blog and imported it. Selected colors and display choices. The only thing I had to rebuild was the blogroll.
ReplyDeleteGeeze...thought I found the Great Pumpkin and was going to see Linus there for second...
ReplyDeleteWordpress...works for me...
And the new anti robot word thingy?
Where the hell is my shotgun?!?!
..I'm shooting it..
Explains why I can't post as me anymore. The great censorship is continuing apace. They think they can censor the internet enough to quell any dissent of people whom go off message.
ReplyDeleteStock up on ammo and supplies and get the bunker ready.
