Texas Blogshoot?

Well, it's official: in the next 3 months or so I'll close up FOB, declare Mission Accomplished, and retire back to Camp Borepatch in Atlanta.  I'll be working remotely (well, from the company office there).

And so the heart turns lightly to thoughts of a blogshoot, probably some time in March before logistics begin consuming the weekends prior to PCS.

The conundrum is that Texas is not like the other, lesser States - there are bloggers from Houston to San Antonio to Dallas (and likely beyond - IIRC, Blackfork is in Tyler).  That's perhaps a 4 hour radius.

So, who's up for a blogshoot in March?  Is it possible for an uber assembly of Lone Star gubbloggers to meet at a single venue?  That would be distilled, 101 proof awesome, but may not be practical.  If not, is there interest in a southern blogshoot and one in Dallas?

Leave a comment with your thoughts.

  1. I'm about an hour West of San Antonio and would love to hit a blogshoot if it is reasonably close. To those outside of Texas, "reasonably" usually means a few hours drive (one way). :)

  4. I do think Austin is as close to centrally-located as anything in Texas. We'll swing it if we can.

  5. I could host the Blog Shoot at my place (20 minutes South of Dallas) if North Texas is a better location.

    Near Beltline and South I-45.

    Let me know ...

  6. Schedule permitting, I'm in.

And if USCitizen's place is the one I'm thinking of on the river, I can vouch for it. It's very nice.

  8. I'm with sabra. I think Austin is a fine location. Best of the West range in Liberty Hill, TX is a fine location. (I'm not affiliated with this enterprise, but do use them on occasion)

  12. I'm committed for something on March 3rd but other than that I would be interested.

Might be able to talk SWLMMHCEM into a road trip.

I'm a North Texas guy like Shepherd K and U.S. Citizen

  13. Yeah!

I agree with Bill in Austin, that Best of the West is a really nice, friendly range. Long range rifle, skeet/trap and plenty of bays. If the weather stink we go to Red's in Round Rock, if clear and pretty, either Eagle Peak (n
10 minutes from us) or preferably, B of the W, which is about 1/2 hour.

    Keep us posted!

  16. Are blog readers and not just writers invited? Will you be at this weekend's gun show in Austin?

  20. The range owner at the 'South of Dallas' Sooper Sekrit Shootin' Spot has given his OK.

(It's usually limited to two guests at one time).

  21. I would be very interested. If you wanted to do it in April in DFW you might note that DACA is doing a 2000 table gun show. We could meet on Friday and be able to sell or shop the gun show on Sat the 14th. But I would be open to a drive to Austin.

  22. I'm always late to the party! Have been overloaded with work, my blog is not specifically gun-centric and has, that I am aware of, zero readers, as it is more catharsis than anything, BUT!, gee whiz, BUT!, I'd love to be in on the action. I'll keep my peepers peeled.
