Quote of the Day: Resource Poisoning edition

We saw Google playing fast and loose with Climate Change earlier today, now it's the turn of Nature - perhaps the single most prestigious scientific journal.  Until now.

An unsigned editorial states:
Results confirming climate change are welcome, even when released before peer review.
[blink]

Ooooooh kaaaaaay, then.  Here, let me fix that for you:
Results confirming our biases are welcome, even if they may be junk.

Now you know all that you need to know about what's published in Nature.  Sic transit Gloria Mundi.

Damn if that ain't the truth.

  2. This post and the one a few back regarding Google bring to mind this quote - which I'm sure you've seen.

Alleged to be from an upcoming IPCC report:
Uncertainty in the sign of projected changes in climate extremes over the coming two to three decades is relatively large because climate change signals are expected to be relatively small compared to natural climate variability

I can find this line on secondary sources - I can't find the primary. Even if true, I find it hard to believe this would be in any final version. The Faithful wouldn't permit it...

I have fun at work - one of the bastions of the True Faith. I've a reputation as a "nay-sayer" ... but we have to turn out stuff that actually has measurable performance criteria - then they call on me because "Q might be right". Wishing it so hasn't overcome physics yet.

Along with WUWT,this is another site I sometimes refer to:

(Now I need to go investigate Bing. Been trying to avoid Microsoft...but they are what they are for a reason)

  3. It isn't just Nature/Climate Change. It is all scientific publications - there is bias in every one of them. There was a move afoot to shut down Medical Hypothesis for publishing articles that were not the 'conforming' view concerning AIDS.

Anyway I didn't find watts up with that in the first 10 pages of Bing EITHER. So? What's up with that? No difference I could tell. Google gives me a lot of cool stuff, but I'd like a non-partial search engine.

I did find this nourishing tidbit though. Oh yes, and be sure to see the 'Think like a Scientist' link. Sigh...

No science there. None at all.

Climate Change is certainly true (in that, if nothing else, the climate is ALWAYS changing), but AGW is far from proven 'science'.

Here's the link you can hurry and show your kids so they can do 'science' like the big kids!
