Follow the money

I posted a bit ago about the bizarre resignation of the editor of a science journal, because he published a paper taking issue with Global Warming.  Well, events are playing out, and it turns out that it's all about the money:

Surely it was obvious from the start that the unfathomable bizarreness of the Wagner resignation would prompt some hard questions from sceptics? Surely it was obvious – to Wagner himself, at the very least – that someone at some stage would  spot the Soil Moisture Network connection with Trenberth and draw unhelpful conclusions?

Why then, did they go ahead and do it anyway?
The answer is depressing for anyone who respects science.  Sadly, there's a good chance that it's true.

Can every Progressive who ever went on about the "Republican War On Science" please shut up and sit down in the back of the room?  Grown ups are talking.
