This is hardly surprising to me, but it seems to be surprising to the author of this article from Atlanta: black people have no interest in owning environmentally-conscious cars.I guess that as a public service to all Upper West Side Intellectuals I should point out that this is why they call it "Stuff White People Like".
And it’s not just a matter of black people not being able to afford environmentally-conscious cars. “[T]here is no shortage of Caddy trucks, and other gas-guzzlers, in the ‘hood. And rarely – if ever – have we seen a basketball player, hip-hop artist, actor or other Black folks of means stepping out of a Chevy Volt.”
Environmental consciousness is part of the white people’s religion of Gaia worship, which black people have no interest in.
No need to thank me, it's all part of the service.
Nothing makes this more obvious than the protesters at G8 trade talks. Union lifers throwing things with help from the third-world workers they unionize against.
ReplyDeleteWe will make exceptions for NBA and NFL players - they wouldn't fit in a Volt without amputating several parts of limbs.
ReplyDeleteFor rap singers, though - those guys should get Volts.
Ya gotta know yer audience. When they make a Volt with BLING and STREET CRED, it'll sell to "certain demographic groups".
ReplyDeleteUntil then... the most likely BLING purchase will be a customized Escalade.
Ever notice how BORING "green" cars are? Probably reflects the personality types of most of the folks buying 'em...
(Pardon me while I throw a leg over the seat and head off on my Harley Softail Heritage...)
Burt, as you taught me "loud pipes save lives". But they're not SWPL.
