The bare minimum for a barber shop

I know that she wantes me to take #2 Son to the upscale barber shop, and it's nice.  It's also a barber shop, not a salon, so #2 Son won't grow up to be a hairdresser or a fashion designer.  Or something.

And while the magazines are very upscale indeed (Travel & Leisure, Wine Spectator, Scientific American), I just have to say that it's not a proper barber shop without Car & Driver or Guns & Ammo.

Just sayin'.

UPDATE 4 June 2011 18:30: I spoke too soon.  You can have a cold beer or a passable (Jack Daniel's/Maker's Mark) bourbon and branch while you get shorn.  I may go back for a proper straight-edge razor shave.  With Bourbon chaser ...

All in all, a Man's barber shop, it seems.

  2. American Rifleman or bust.

I remember my dad taking me to the barber shop when I was a wee lad. He must have been watching me go through the stacks of American Rifleman they had, because on the way back, he told me my birthday present was a junior membership in the NRA.

    Yeah, that was pretty awesome.

  4. Never been to a barber shop... I bought some hair clippers instead.

  5. As a quick way to make some bucks or beer in college I cut hair in our co-ed dorm. A six-pack a cut.
Symmetry is GOD - it's everything, and tools help. Had to buy some real hair-cutting scissors.
As an artist doing "plastic" arts and physical modeling it wasn't too hard to pick-up technique.
It was not very lucrative since we were mostly long-hairs, but I also did it for some chicks and THAT was a *cough* relationship builder, oh boy, some of them they got lovey-dovey.
