I have another uberpost kicking around the back of the head, but I'm all tired out after the last week. FOB Borepatch is set up and we have Internet access now. I still need to find a shooting range that's affiliated with CMP - when I head back to Atlanta I could take I-20 and stop at the CMP store in Alabama.
But I'm pretty tired now, and tomorrow morning is inevitable. So courtesy of reader (and shooting buddy) Burt, here's something I wish I'd found last fall.
That's pretty filled with win, right there.
UPDATE 15 May 2011 19:12: More on the deer mounts in the comments, but I have to get out deer hunting. All I can say is that I use antlers in all of my decorating ...
That is so full of win, there will be enough left over win for weeks!
ReplyDeleteI agree. "When we hold the hammer...Every one of them looks like a nail" Loved it.
ReplyDeleteDid the apartment come furnished with the mounts on the wall?
And I envy you having a CMP store relatively close to your home.
ReplyDeleteHat Trick, no, I didn't shoot the deer. I picked them up along the way and like them. Since the Missus isn't (yet) here, I can decorate how I like. Some day, I'll get my own, Lord willing and the creek don't rise.
ReplyDeleteAnd the CMP store isn't anywhere near either place. However, it looks like it's only a couple miles off I-20, and so if I went past and didn't stop, I'd be a damned fool.
Borepatch,
ReplyDeleteThis link (http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/clubSearchSubmit.cgi?clubMembership=OPEN&state=TX) is reputed to list CMP affiliated ranges here in TX. The only one of which I have any personal knowledge is the Arlington Sportsman's Club in Mansfield, TX. Bob S. of the blog 3 Boxes of B.S. is the membership secretary there and could hook you up with a guest pass if you asked nice. Also, if you find yourself headed back east through Dallas and it works with your schedule (which you most likely will if you want to take I-20), give me a shout. We can find a barbeque or TexMex place to share a beer.
Relative to me that's close. I have to drive across a good sized chunk of IL, all of IN, and into OH to reach the CMP North Store.
ReplyDeleteCheck out what they have for carbines and Garands. The Kimber Model 84 Govt .22 target rifles look like a deal too. (I'm not sure if they have them in the south store but it won't hurt to look.) Stopping at the store gives you a chance to see what you're getting. When you order you're getting luck of the draw unless you order a higher condition grade.
