Angel

When the Angel of Death approaches you, it is terrible.  When it reaches you, it is bliss.

- Sufi proverb

All of us must make that voyage some day.  For some, it will be many years from now.  For others, their ships are even now weighing anchor.

  1. I much prefer this sentiment:

Do not go gentle into that good night,
    Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

    All the best,

  3. Death is before me today
Like the recovery of a sick man,
Like the going forth into a garden after sickness

    Death is before me today
    Like the odor of myrrh,
Like sitting under a sail on a windy day.

    Death is before me today
Like the course of the freshet,
Like the return of a man from the war-galley to his house.

    Death is before me today
As a man longs to see his house
When he has spent years in captivity.

You can tell a lot about a culture from how it talks about death.

  23. I'm always at a loss for what to say in situations like this, Borepatch. I lost the only member of my family I was ever close to when I was a callow youth; I've been spared further loss since.

Just know your friends are here for you. Even hundreds of miles away, trapped in MA...
