May your memories give you the strength to withstand the bitter winds of today, and may those memories give you the strength to be a support for others.
I'm always at a loss for what to say in situations like this, Borepatch. I lost the only member of my family I was ever close to when I was a callow youth; I've been spared further loss since.
Just know your friends are here for you. Even hundreds of miles away, trapped in MA...
I much prefer this sentiment:
ReplyDeleteDo not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
All the best,
GB
All I can do from far away is keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteDeath is before me today
ReplyDeleteLike the recovery of a sick man,
Like the going forth into a garden after sickness
Death is before me today
Like the odor of myrrh,
Like sitting under a sail on a windy day.
Death is before me today
Like the course of the freshet,
Like the return of a man from the war-galley to his house.
Death is before me today
As a man longs to see his house
When he has spent years in captivity.

You can tell a lot about a culture from how it talks about death.
Time devours all things, except love.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is
ReplyDeletebe glad of the times you had,
and
don't forget your mom.
I'll keep you in my thoughts Borepatch.
ReplyDeleteMy best wishes to you and your family. My thoughts are with you. If there us anything I can do let me know, and if it is in my powers to do it I will.
