They did it because they had some pride in how they looked. They did it because they knew that how they looked also reflected on their families. Something the people (not just women, but men, also) of this country have lost. Everytime I see a "woman" in her pjs and slippers at the grocery store, or a "man" out about town in his sweats, I want to bitch slap them. They aren't men and women, they are like little kids who never want to grow up. All part of the government will take care of me, so why should I put in any effort gang. Barf. Yes, your mother is lovely. I have similar pics of my mom. Sorry to be cranky, guess I'll go get another cup of tea. :-)
Miss Violet: I do my best to maintain my standards. I don't wear t-shirts publicly - only decent button-down shirts. No torn jeans - dress slacks or 5.11 in good shape.
It was instilled into me when I was young, it is a part of me now.
