The Dread Pirate Roberts to the GOP: "I'll probably kill you in the morning."

Insty writes about how the GOP has basically one last chance before the Tea Parties get too disgusted to continue and a third party forms:

But those establishment GOP figures who think that they’ll cruise to victory and a return to the pocket-stuffing business-as-usual that marked the prior GOP majority need to think again. This election cycle is, in a very real sense, a last chance for the Republicans. If they blow it, we’re likely to see third-party challenges in 2012, not only at the Presidential level but in numerous Congressional races as well.

For the national GOP, it’s do-or-die time. So guys, you’d better perform -- unless you want me to be writing another “I told you so” column in 2013. And trust me, you don’t.
I've been writing for some time that both parties hold us in contempt, and that this includes the GOP.  I've been writing for some time that the problem isn't the Democrats, and the solution isn't the Republicans.  I've been writing for some time that the problem is an institutional ruling class that holds us and our concerns in contempt.

The Democrats are about to get clobbered, and a Good Riddance, too - you have never seen a greater hive of scum and villainy.  But the Republicans need to know that they serve at our sufferance, and none of the signs point towards that.  And so themessage needs to go out to the Republican establishment that they're unlikely to see tomorrow's sunset:
Why should I make an exception of you?

or

Good night, Westley. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning.

because otherwise it's

Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya Tea Party. You killed my father Ronald Reagan. Prepare to die.
Vote straight Republican, and get played for a sucker by the Republican Establishment.  Insty said it well:

But while ordinary Americans are mad as hell, this time they really don’t have to take it any more. Institutions have failed them, but Internet tools like blogs, Twitter, and Facebook, and personal tools -- like the cheap handheld video cameras that beat back bogus charges of Tea Party racism again and again -- mean that they don’t have to rely on failing institutions.
The Republican Establishment has failed.  Let's kill them - politically speaking - tomorrow.  To get a better Dread Pirate Roberts.

I want my country back, you Son of a Bitch.

  1. That's my favorite movie. I never considered the political applications of all the great lines...

    Borepatch, are there rocks ahead?

  2. I'm guessing that they figure it'll be like the last time -- how long did it take for the GOP to turn into the stupid party after the Contract with America? At least 2 elections, right?

Hopefully we'll have a longer memory this time, so the cycle doesn't repeat.

  3. Actually, I think it'll end up with the Repubs being either taken over by the Tea Party Types or being forced into obscurity, like what happened to the Whigs in the 1850's. There is a younger Generation of Repubs who are sick and tired of the "Good Old Boys" in the current Leadership who'll make their move soon after these Mid- Terms. The Dems, however, having sold their souls for votes, have had too much Marxist influence over the decades, to stay in Power, and they will probably split apart before the Repubs. Either way, I can't see Obama having the savvy of Clinton and moving more towards the center to stay in office. Barry is way to the Left, and he'll just go into Bunker Mode while trying to Rule. Hopefully, he won't try to use Force when dealing with the "Winds of Change", but the amount of rats leaving his sinking ship recently thinks no one wants to be stuck in the Fuhrer Bunker with him.

Of course, I could be wrong, but it'll be a rough ride ahead the next couple of years for sure.
