Aretae is waxing eloquent on how the Progressive Agenda is producing the opposite result from what its (ostensible) goals are. And his final paragraph does a pretty decent job of describing my position as well:

The reason I identify as a left libertarian now is that I think the leftists have the right goals. Protect the poor. It's just that the actual impact of leftist policy is to make things worse for the poor, and better for the rich. I propose, instead, doing stuff that actually makes things better for the poor.
