Traffic

This has turned out to be my best traffic month, for no particular reason that I can fathom. No links from the major bloggers, no particularly au courant topic that got picked up by anyone.

I must confess to being a little flummoxed. But thanks for stopping by!

  1. Maybe you're turning into one of the big bloggers. Don't let it go to your head!

  2. I drop by every other day or so, as we share some interests (loud noise-makers, denialism, computers) and I enjoy some of the Okie music.
Anthony Watts is sort of local for me, and WattsUpwithThat has long been a great place for those who us who've laughed at algore for years.
I'd like to say that I've followed all your 'puter security tips, but since I'm still runnin' 98ME, the best I can do is Firefox with NoScript. Had been using Xubuntu 7.04, but for some reason my latest drive doesn't like any Linux right now. Will soon be installing Xubuntu 9.10 on this machine and my laptop (XP Pro) so I can feel a little safer.
Thanks for the knowledge and entertainment. Keep up the good work.

  3. It's probably my fault. I check back every time you publish a new post.

No, I do not have much in the way of a life. Why do you ask? ;)

  4. inbredredneck, you may be pretty safe with W98 - there's not any malware that targets it directly, and there are very few network services that are attackable.

If it's working for you, from a security perspective, this strikes me as pretty effective.

By "XUbuntu" do you mean "Kubuntu"? I run that. 7.x is pretty old, but the latests supposedly will sync with iPhones, so I've been meaning to upgrade.

    And amen on Anthony's site.

  5. USCitizen and raptorsnest,

Between the two of you and my Mom, I see where the traffic's coming from. ;-)

  6. A friend told me about your site I hope you don't mind but I have been posting links to your site on the Daily Telegraph specifically the anti AGW ones on the James Delingpole blog.

  8. Hey, at least you're getting traffic!

I think googlebot counted for half my hits last week. :P

  9. I've come around occasionally myself. Guns and intelligent conversation? I'm in.

  10. Xubuntu is one of the Ubuntu versions without much of the office stuff. I think that the newest version is 10.04 but if I can install 9.10, anything else I need I can get from the repository.
Downloading stuff is so much fun when on a good day my dialup speed is screamin' along at 28.8, but I just need to remember to take my laptop along when I go to town so I can find a wireless connection to get updates.
The bad side of livin' in my little canyon is that wireless won't reach me, the good side is I can go out in the gully near the house and burn up ammo to my hearts content. In my attempt to see how much .22lr it takes to wear out my Beretta Jaguar, it seems I'm having no success. It's almost as though I'm not even in California. ;^)
Again, thanks for the great blog.
