How Solar Power works

That's why Solar Power is so important in West Virgina, and so inefficient in California.

  2. I may have said this before, but the process of just refining the raw silicon (not even the part of actually making the panels) is incredibly electricity intensive. The REC Silicon plant by Butte uses about the same amount of electricity as the city of Billings, MT (pop. about 130,000).

  3. Do liberals not understand basic physics?

Do they not understand the amount of energy expended just to create (e.g. design, mine, smelt, forge, construct, ship) those "renewable" and/or "green" energy generation systems?

Do they not realize that, due to the huge expenditures required for construction and the periodic and unpredictable (e.g. non-continuous) power generated, those "renewable" and/or "green" energy generation systems will ALWAYS operate at a loss?

Do they not realize that maintenance of continuous power requires that those "renewable" and/or "green" energy generation systems will always require continuously operating oil, gas, coal, or nuclear power stations?

Do they not "get" that there is no such thing as "free energy"?

Can we generate power more efficiently? Yes, to be sure, we can. But the liberal/progressive idea that solar, wind, wave, geothermal, and other "green" or "renewable" energy systems are the "solution" is a pipe dream.
