"Deutschland Uber Alles" as music on Obama's conference call with the Rabbis?

You have got to be kidding me:
Eyebrows were also raised by the choice of hold music that played to rabbis before the call began.

"First mistake," Moline tweeted, as he waited for the call to begin. "Music on hold is 'Deutschland uber Alles,' " a classical German anthem, the lyrics to which in part say, "Preserve and protect our Kaiser, our land."
Seems he was pitching his health plan to the Rabbis, and there was music when their conference call was on hold. That's one smart Administration, right there.

Oy vey.

  1. And I thought it was bad having to listen to Debbie Gibson crooning when I was on hold with the Cable Company last week.... Who the hell picks the hold music station at the Whitehouse??

Maybe one of the Nazi Rocket Scientists still hanging around?

  2. I don't know anything about the phone call, but the music is a trap for the unaware. It was written by Hayden, and has been used for many different things. It's included in may US church hymnbooks as "Glorious Things Of Thee Are Spoken."

    See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tz-iqQrmV1s

It could show up unexpected in any collection of church music, or of Hayden for that matter, and if you are younger than 60, you probably won't recognize the music in a different context.
