While I'm no expert, I also don't think that there's a big secret to marriage: if you like each other she'll forgive your sorry butt, when you least deserve it but need it the most.
Part of this is making sure that you're friends before you pop the question. Part, though, if continually remembering why you like her.
Brad Paisley captures this perfectly in Little Moments. It's funny, but it also hits very close to home on the little things that remind you that not only do you love her, you really like her.
Little Moments (Songwriters: Chris DuBois, Brad Paisley)
Well I'll never forget the first time that I heardMaking an appearance at the end of this video is Mrs. Paisley, the actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley (star with Steve Martin in Father Of The Bride). They met on the set of his video I'm Gonna Miss Her (a hilarious video, well worth the click through). Not only was the rest history, it showed up in this song:
That pretty mouth say that dirty word
And I can't even remember now what she backed my truck into
But she covered her mouth and her face got red
And she just looked so darn cute
That I couldn't even act like I was mad
Yeah I live for little moments like that
Well that's just like last year on my birthday
She lost all track of time and burnt the cake
And every smoke detector in the house was goin' off
And she was just about to cry until I took her in my arms
And I tried not to let her see me laugh
Yeah I live for little moments like that
I know she's not perfect but she tries so hard for me
And I thank god that she isn't 'cause how boring would that be
It's the little imperfections it's the sudden change in plans
When she misreads the directions and we're lost but holdin' hands
Yeah I live for little moments like that
When she's layin' on my shoulder on the sofa in the dark
And about the time she falls asleep so does my right arm
And I want so bad to move it 'cause it's tinglin' and it's numb
But she looks so much like and angel that I don't wanna wake her up
Yeah I live for little moments
When she steals my heart again and doesn't even know it
Yeah I live for little moments like that
Brad Paisley has stated that Kim was the basis for his 2004 hit Little Moments. Specifically the opening part, which reads as follows:
"Well I'll never forget the first time that I heard that pretty mouth say that dirty word. And I can't even remember now, what she backed my truck into. But she covered her mouth and her face got red and she just looked so darn cute. That I couldn't even act like I was mad- Yeah I live for little moments like that."
The two events were taken right from the first time Brad heard her swear and how she started to blush when he found a dent in his truck.
Joo see this yet?

Doubletrouble, no, I hadn't.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't verify this, but put an update at the head of the post. People can decide for themselves.
If you read the comments thread to a follow up post to the one that doubletrouble linked, you'll see a couple of comment exchanges with people who raised some valid concerns with the story as presented.
ReplyDeleteThose concerns were met with derision, condescension, name calling and accusations of sock puppetry rather than simply addressing the concerns.
Based upon that comment thread and a personal e-mail exchange with the authors of the blog, I don't find them credible.
They come across as petty, vindictive people who don't deal well with not getting their way (or even being questioned at all). It wouldn't surprise me at all to find that their version of the story has been...um...massaged...to cast them in the best light possible and to unfairly paint the Paisley camp as unreasonable. I personally take this story with a large grain of salt and will do so unless confirmed by independent sources.
Hokey Smokes Ted- I didn’t want to start a Shiite storm!
ReplyDeleteI’ve no feelings for Mr. Paisley one way or another; I just saw a link to that info whilst surfing last night. I had no perception for the veracity of the statements; I just thought since the subject came up…
THAT’LL learn me…
Doubletrouble: I think you were right to point it out.
ReplyDeleteAnd I re-iterate that I'm not saying it's definitely not true. I'm not debunking anything...I'm just saying that the story itself and the demeanor of the people who reported the story just struck me as less than credible and I'm not buying it until I see some independent verification.
