Happy Birthday, Spam

Fifteen years ago, the law firm of Cantor and Siegel posted the first spam message to Al Gore's Intarwebz. Since this was the Pleistocene Age of the Internet, it was sent to Usenet newsgroups, rather than in a mass email. They used a script to post the same message (Get your Green Card!) to hundreds of newsgroups.

I remember being one of the ones boiling up the tar and sharpening the pitchforks, figuring that if we didn't nip this in the bud, it would only get worse.
