Randy Travis - Meet Me Under the Mistletoe

The Stutz Bearcat was an epic sports car from back in the day when there weren't a lot of sports cars.  But other than as a museum piece, you wouldn't one (to drive).  It lacked basic conveniences, not just air bags and air conditioning, but electric starters and, err, windows.  But imagine if the ghost of old man Stutz were to come back, and create an up-to-date new Bearcat that had all that and yet remained faithful to the original?

That's what Randy Travis did with this song, which channels Hank Williams, Sr. to a "T".  It's light hearted and modern and yet deeply grounded in Old School country music.

Meet Me Under the Mistletoe (songwriters: Joe Collins, Mark Irwin, Betsy Jackson)
Meet me under the the mistletoe
Midnight Christmas Eve
Your sweet kiss is the first gift
I'd like to receive
The presents that we bought
Will have to wait beneath the tree
Meet me under the the mistletoe
Midnight Christmas Eve
There's frost on all the windows
Candles burnin' bright
Stockings on the mantel
Everything's just right
Soon the house will come alive
With family and friends
I'd love some time alone with you
Before it all begins
Meet me under the the mistletoe
Midnight Christmas Eve
Your sweet kiss is the first gift
I'd like to receive
The presents that we bought
Will have to wait beneath the tree
Meet me under the the mistletoe
Midnight Christmas Eve
It seems I've hardly seen you
We've had so much to do
With the holiday approaching
I've sure been missin' you
I can't want till Christmas morn
To hold you in my arms
I'm feelin' like a kid again
Waitin' on Santa Claus
Meet me under the the mistletoe
Midnight Christmas Eve
Your sweet kiss is the first gift
I'd like to receive
The presents that we bought
Will have to wait beneath the tree
Meet me under the the mistletoe
Midnight Christmas Eve
Meet me under the the mistletoe
Midnight Christmas Eve

That's a good one, and it just 'sounds' better when done by a country singer!!!

Sure is better when done with a twang.
