Punching back twice as hard

Marine detained over Facebook posts sues police:
RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – The Chesterfield Marine who claimed he was wrongfully detained over posts he made to Facebook has filed a civil rights lawsuit against Chesterfield Police officers and other government workers, according to his attorneys from The Rutherford Institute.

They claim Brandon Raub’s First and Fourth Amendment Rights were violated when FBI agents appeared at Raub’s Chesterfield home last summer.

Raub claims the agents questioned him about his Facebok postings on the government’s version of 9/11 and the role of the Federal Reserve. Based on that conversation, and Raub’s actions, he said he was “forcibly detained in a psychiatric ward for a week.”
A few more of these - and a few seven figure payouts - may lead the local authorities to tell the FBI to do their own damn job by themselves, instead of getting local Po-Po patsies to be fall guys for them.

Well, a guy can dream, can't he?

It will be interesting to see how this one plays out...

The problem is the people who commit the crimes don't actually pay. Its most likely the insurance company, paid by the taxpayers. Until we eliminate qualified immunity, this kind of crap will keep happening.

And let me guess: his stint in a psychiatry ward will come up when he renews his license to carry or on a background check when he tries to buy another firearm.

Don't get me started. Working with the FBI seldom works out well for the local police. They are uniformly arrogant and actually quite lazy. I've had more than one instance where I was the lead investigator on a bank robbery and when the FBI deigned to send an agent he invariably stood around and did nothing. Right up until we caught the bad guy. Then they held a press conference and thanked us for our 'invaluable assistance' while taking all the credit for the bust without doing any of the work. We decided a long time ago not to involve them where we could avoid it and never never never took the lead in any investigation they initiated. Then we stood around and did absolutely nothing until we could find an excuse to leave. They are quite a bit like DAs. Always looking for a chance to score with the media and Washington.
