Because I suck (and I've been busy).

Wolfgang has been eating 20 lb of puppy food a week.  He's rather suddenly scaled back to 20 lb every week and a half.  I don't know whether that's because he's 9 months old and his metabolism is starting to slow down or because he's eating Ivan the Terrier's food (I haven't been tracking that).

Squirrel Report is cutting into my blogging time, at least on Thursday nights.  Just saying'.  I blame Alan, Breda, Jay, and Weer'd.  Not my fault at all, no sir.

The Jeep "only" needs $700 in repairs.  Anyone know why I need to replace the brakes every 20,000 miles?

Got to go to Vancouver next week.  It's like Seattle, only with friendly hippies.

The Missus was out last night with her girlfriends.  They all drank wine and painted on canvas.  It's like Seattle, only with less rain (and the hippies are friendly.  And cute).

Regarding the jeep, have you checked your rotors / drums for trueness? Worn rotors / untrue drums will cause rapid brake degradation.

It's a Jeep... That's why! And I'd question the rotors and hub alignment too.

WOW, that's a lot of dog food. Deck at his height was eating 2 cups a day.

On the jeep, either
1. You have sticky calipers
2. You drive like a new york taxi cab riding the brake.
3. You have a brake pad compound that is as resilient to friction as silly putty.

Heck, even my wife has squeezed 100k out of a set of disc brakes before :-) Talk about #2

So if you calipers are good, your foot only goes on the brake when you actually need to slow down, then I would look to some performance brake pads

Many years ago in my youth i was working in a gararge for a summer job
we had this guy kept on bring his car
in for new pads, normaly he would collect his car but one time i had to take it out to him and he was to drive me back to come in to pay his bill, turned out he drove with his foot covering the brake pedal and as his foot got tired of hovering started to rest on the pedal he did not realise what he was doing until i pointed it out to him on the twenty mile drive back to the garage after being told
every couple of minutes by me what he was doing he moved his foot proplem solved!

One other possibility on the Jeep: the proportioning valve may be misadjusted, sending an inordinate amount of pressure to the front or back, rather than balancing the load. I wore out a set of front pads in 18K that way, but a good mechanic fixed the cause & the next set went 60K.

Sounds like you are letting your jealousness of the Seattle cross over into being hater...bsides, to be like Seattle, your wife and her friends would have been drinking micro-brews, not wine.

Although, I did have a glass of wine last night...living in the Columbia Valley American Viticultrural Area will do that to you.

Vancouver BC or Vancouver Washington?

Been reading your blog for a few years. If you are going to be in Vancouver BC I would buy you a beer. Similar to your time in Texas, I go to BC every week. Always interested in meeting another member of the gun club. rlmiller10atgmail.com
