Guilty pleasure

The Travel Channel is running a marathon of Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" series.  Bourdain is one of those personality types that you either love or hate; he falls on the enjoyable side of that line with me.  Each episode is spent in a different location - Sydney, Rio, etc - and covers both the sights and the local cuisine.

As a (minor) foodie who's traveled quite a bit, this has been a surprisingly fun way to be a couch potato.

I really wanted to dislike Bourdain but I can't. Whenever I saw the ads for No Reservations he struck me as a posh jet-setter out slumming. But to actually watch him, he doesn't seem like that at all.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through the episodes available on Netflix instant...

The Iceland episode is classic: the single worst thing he has ever put into his mouth.

I haven't seen the Iceland episode, although I imagine that it was washed down with a lot of alcohol.

Bourdain is our favorite TV douche-bag. His Food Porn episode is classic.

I don't watch him, and here's why:

"Now, Unlike Ted, I'm FOR strict gun control. I believe in making it more difficult for people to get guns. EXCEPT FOR ME and of course Ted."

F--- him and the show he rode in on.

That and Bizarre Foods are two of my favorites. Depending solely on streaming Netflix, though, I've long since run out of episodes and wish they'd load up some more.

Borepatch, there was copious alcohol, but apparently nothing can wash the taste of fermented shark out of your mouth.
