Kyudo slow motion archery

It's very different from western archery. You hold the bow above you, not in front of you. Rather than pulling back on the string, you push the bow.




It's all done in slow motion, with an enormous focus on technique. One of the students from the Dojo must have had a brain fart, because the bow flew a dozen feet down range. I expect that much face was lost.

But it's cool when everything works as intended.

The arrow is also nocked in a different fashion than in the west. As in Mongol archery, the arrow is nocked and then used to pull back the string, rather than the method used over here.
It made more sense their way if you were shooting from horseback.

One winter through Community Ed with a couple whom studied Kyudo for years.
Was and interesting experience.
