In news from the future ...

... expect to see flying cars:
Big news for flying-car lovers today, as US military boffinry chiefs have unveiled full details of their plan to produce an excellent flying Humvee or sky-jeep type vehicle - and have a prototype flying by 2015.
So who are these boffins? The folks who brought you the Internet:
One need hardly add, of course, that the military boffinry shop in question is none other than DARPA: the agency which, just occasionally, produces the technological equivalent of the complete works of Shakespeare - but which also cranks out a hell of a lot of monkey sonnets.
I mean, it is the twenty-first century.

Even if DARPA says, with its very best star captain voice, "Number one! Make it so!" doesn't make it so.

Good luck with that.

I like their re-use of the term Eco for "Enhanced Company Operations" better than eco-logical at any rate...

"We will kill you in your sleep. On Christmas. IN OUR F*****G HOVER-CAR." would have a nice ring to it.

But I'm not holding my breath. We'd get more tactical bang for our buck deploying hot air balloons that burn five dollar bills for fuel.
