Hip Hop for Dads

Both my regular readers know that my musical tastes run on the Country side, but #1 Son showed me a Hip Hop song that cracked me up. I think it was the fusion of the "Hip Hop Bad @ss" style with the very country family focus that did it.

Mix suburban white guy rap with real musical talent and Weird Al Yankovic humor and you get something like singing comic Jon Lajoie. Lord and anyone who visits this site on a fairly regular basis knows I am not a fan of the funny song, but I am forced to admit Jon Lajoie is very good at this stuff. This based on the 4 video sampler we received.

...

Stay At Home Dad is my favorite tune on the screener we received. It’s a heavy metal rap with an excellent guitar riff. The comedy here comes in part from the opposition between the tune and the lyrics and in part from what, according to this comic, a stay at home dad does during the day.

Stay At Home Dad (Songwriter: Jon Lajoie)
I’m a stay at home dad
I’m on paternity leave
I’m a stay at home dad
It’s just the baby and me

I’m a stay at home dad
While my wife’s at work
I got a bottle in my hand
And spit-up on my shirt

Baby wakes me up around 5am
Kickin and screamin until his face turns red
He usually tends to calm down once he’s fed
So I give him his bottle my wife gets out of bed

Cook my wife breakfast while she’s getting ready
Uh-oh uh-oh, someone’s diaper is smelly
Uh-oh uh-oh, it leaked all over his belly
Uh-oh uh-oh, it looks like mustard and jelly

Kiss my wife good-bye while I clean up his bum-bum
It’s time for his bath this is gonna be fun fun
I tried not to get soap in his eyes
He really doesn’t like it, it makes him cry

But if he cries, to make him stop I’ve got a trick
I’ll make funny noises with my mouth like this
(makes noise with lips) ga ga goo goo ga ga ga
Then we play peek-a-boo it makes him laugh

I’m a stay at home dad
It’s a full time job
I’m a stay at home dad
But I like it a lot

I’m a stay at home dad
During his afternoon nap
I watch The Price Is Right
and I make myself a snack

Cheese and crackers!
If I have errands to run I take the van
Strap him in his car seat
And bring his baby bag

I always make sure his seat’s well strapped in
My baby’s security is important
Groceries, pay some bills, visit grandma
But I gotta be sure to make it back by 4 ‘o’ clock

So I can prepare supper while I watch Oprah
What should I make tonight? Maybe some pasta
And a Caesar salad, my wife will like that
5 o’ clock’s the time that she gets back

She asks me how my day was I say not bad
It’s all in a day’s work as a stay at home dad

I’m a stay at home dad
I don’t take drugs
I’m a stay at home dad
I get high on baby hugs

I’m a stay at home dad
I’m like Winnie The Pooh
But my favorite Disney movie
Is the Lion King Two

I also like Ice Age…

That’s right I take care of my children
That’s right I take care of my children
That’s right I take care of my children
That’s right I take care of my children
That’s right I take care of my children
That’s right I take care of my children
That’s right I take care of my children
That’s right I take care of my children
My favorite Disney film was "Lilo and Stitch", and no, it's not just because of the Elvis music.

He's a hoot...

Search Youtube for "Everyday Normal Guy", and you'll find the first video of his that I ever saw. Really funny, but pretty foul language.
