Range report from Mrs. Borepatch: Playing dress up.

Today I put on my best cowboy boots, denim skirt, my turquoise jewelry, and my cowboy hat. I channeled my inner cowgirl and shot Ruger Blackhawk, a six-shooter any cowboy would have been proud of.

I have not been the biggest fan of revolvers, but this was a lot of fun. I can see why people love this pistol, even though it is single action and has only six rounds. My shooting must just be getting better regardless of the type of pistol, because the last revolver I shot, I hated it and could not hit what I was aiming at. Fortunately, #2 son likes doing the tedious loading and unloading, but I did it once or twice just to carry my own weight, and to show off the new ring Mr. B gave me for our anniversary. Mr. B was complaining about the sight on the pistol, but I told him to shut up and stop making excuses, as I wasn't having any problems with it. It was not the gun's fault he picked a black bulls eye for a gun with black sights. Admittedly, he did do better when he made his own target. I felt compelled to try the black target as well, just to prove my point, and while it was harder to line up the sights across the top with black against black, I still say he was making excuses, and being awfully whiny about it.

Sadly we were not able to shoot the lever action rifle. Next time we feel like playing cowboy, hopefully they will have ammo for the Winchester 30-30.

Overall, I was quite pleased with my results, although, I still can't figure out what happened with that one stray down right. Unlike some people I could mention, I make no excuses.

We can go one step further toward the cowboy motif, I've got a blued Ruger Backhawk chambered in .45 Colt.

You can even load your own, if you have the time and interest.

You and the Mr. will just HAVE to meander up my way, then.

I've got a Colt New Frontier single action revolver and a Marlin model 39A lever action rifle, both chambered in the inexpensive .22LR...

And we can pick off evil orange clays on the 25 yard berm...
